Meditation is a ladder to reach Samadhi. What will you call that person who holds the ladder and stops there itself and doesn’t reach the destination? Actually the person who has held the ladder has made ladder valueless. He has not been able to understand the value of the ladder. What will you call that person who sits in a boat and forgets to reach his destination? It is necessary to sit in a boat. But it is even more necessary to get out of it on arriving at the other shore. One who reaches the other side can only understand the importance of boat. Only that person can heartily thank the boat.
By conducting the Samadhi programs we are making the proper use of the meditation techniques given by Osho. And we are proving that these techniques are so effective that they make person reach into Samadhi in a short span itself. So is this making them valueless or ascertaining their importance?
In the third discourse of “Kahe Kabir Deewana”, Osho says –
“Meditation is just a preparation and Samadhi is the harvest. All these meditations techniques.....actually it is not right to call it as even technique. This should be called as the preparation prior meditation.”
While explaining the eight stages of meditation in the discourse ‘Ka Sovey Din Raen’ Osho clarifies -
“Seventh stage is meditation and eighth stage is Samadhi. Till seventh the use of techniques is necessary”.
While speaking in nearly same words in ‘Patanjali Sutra’ Osho has explained the difference between meditation and Samadhi in detail. First you have to practice the technique and then you have to even leave that technique.
In the fifth discourse of ‘Honi Hoye So Hoye’ Osho narrates-
“The real meditation is to hear the Naad of Omkar - the divine sound. To which Kabir calls as ‘Shabad’, I call it as meditation.” Omkar is heard in the state of Samadhi. In the eleventh discourse of ‘Maro He Jogi Maro’, Osho says that 99% of master’s hard work goes in awakening people and only 1% of his hard work is used for making people listen the sound of one hand clapping. Because till the disciple is asleep how can he be made listen that ultimate sound? Therefore all meditation techniques are the way out for awakening, so that ultimate sound can be heard. Main objective is to hear the divine sound.”
In the forth discourse of this book Osho says that “Even my basic teaching is same as the basic teaching of Gorakh Nathji – listen that ultimate shabad - divine sound.”
In the eighth discourse of ‘Sabhey Sayane Ek Mat’ Osho clearly says that “Meditation and Love are just the means, Samadhi is the end”. The people who have considered the means as the end, they have missed the real teaching of Osho. Whenever Osho has mentioned the Active meditation or some other techniques, first and foremost thing, what He said was practice it for three months. He never suggested practicing them forever. The friend from Dehradun who has expressed the anger, I request him to rethink about it. All the meditation techniques are to make you reach till Samadhi. If anybody is unable to reach the destination, he should very well understand that he has misunderstood the path. Reaching the destination establishes the importance of the path. More ever the path is left on reaching the destination. After recovering and becoming healthy medicines are left. This proves the effectiveness of medicine and you feel thankful towards the doctor. Ego is the disease and master is the doctor. Samadhi is health. Osho has given the complete science of Samadhi. Restricting Osho to meditation alone is making Osho valueless.
